If you've spent any time on social media in the last month, you've seen the #trashtag meme pop up all over the internet. The idea appeared in early March as encouragement for "bored teens" to get off their phones and take action by cleaning up a public space while taking before and after photos to post online. Within days, the meme resulted in thousands of posts showing eager trash collectors bagging garbage all over the world, garnering well over 300,000 likes and shares.

What started as a simple idea to clean up littered wilderness areas has blossomed into a movement to tackle not only natural spaces but urban centers, also. A quick search on your favorite social media platform will show just how excited folks are about making a difference. In a

What is Home Staging?

Home Staging is professionally preparing homes for sale so that they appeal to the most amount of buyers and generate the highest price in the least amount of time on market.

Home Staging is detailing, de-cluttering, depersonalizing and preparing a seller's home to give it a "model home" appearance so that the potential buyer can "see" themselves living in the home.

There are 2 types of home staging. Consultations, or occupied staging, is when the sellers are living in the house while it’s on the market. A stager will come to your house and walk around the interior and exterior with the sellers or their agent, to provide feedback on the areas that need improvement. This might involve painting, decluttering and rearranging or

For many years, the VA loan of the past had a reputation for being less desirable in the real estate marketplace, especially in consistently hot markets like we have here in Central Texas. I spoke with Chad Bowman of Veterans United Home Loans in Austin & Killeen to find out how this product has changed and how it has become a strong selling point for your Veteran property buyers.

Chad, a Veteran himself, spent the last several years teaching Veterans, REALTORS®, and the general public about how to successfully navigate the easier-than-ever VA loan. Below is our conversation:

1.  How has the VA loan experience changed over the last decade for the borrower? The Seller?

Since I started as a VA Loan Specialist 14 years ago, the VA loan has only

Every family has their own version of holiday cheer, from watching movies, decorating the house, singing songs, or bah hum-bugging the whole thing. Here are some favorite memories and traditions of the holidays from our own dear Stanberry family. May this give you some ideas for your own family or simply bring you a smile this holiday season.

Randy McDonald- Our family started a family tradition many years ago on Thanksgiving to hold hands in a circle and each individually tell the circle of family one thing they are grateful for. It's a wonderful experience, watching children especially, grow in their year to year thoughts of grace in their lives. Often a tear of happiness is seen rolling down the cheek of those that are listening, along with

We don’t typically think much about trash removal or hauling junk until something happens and we need to have it handled as quickly as possible. Usually involving a dramatic life change, it could be a divorce, a death in the family, massive spring/fall cleaning or any number of reasons leading to the impersonal collection and the inevitable disposing of our belongings at the dump somewhere outside of town. Not exactly inspiring, right?

Well, Laura Chavez with Junkluggers Junk Removal Service will change the way we think about trash. Junkluggers is relatively new to Austin but we can promise you that you’ll be hearing a lot more about them soon! Originally started in 2004 in Connecticut, the company rapidly outgrew its small hometown and in 2013

In the year since Hurricane Harvey devastated the Texas and Louisiana coasts, homeowners have had to reconsider the way they think about flooding. Thousands suffered evacuation from over 200,000 homes across the region, three-fourths of which lived outside of the existing 100-year floodplains. What did most of these property owners have in common? No flood insurance.

Doesn't my homeowners insurance cover flooding?

The long and short answer to this question is no. House Logic, a division of NAR, described homeowners insurance in this way when it comes to water coverage in your home, "[Homeowners insurance] only covers water falling from the sky. Once water touches the ground and enters your home, it’s a flood, and only flood insurance will pay for

Guest Blog by Brent Bailey with A+ Pool Leak Detectives

The 2 Biggest Mistakes Homeowners Make With Their Pools - (Side Note: Please don’t blame your Pool Tech for the following issues.  They are not trained to find and fix leaks and most likely won’t know about this until you tell them.)

As a Swimming Pool Leak Detector (I find and fix leaks in pools), many different situations occur where homeowners are experiencing problems with their pool.  As a rule of thumb, half the pools I see have only one leak to be fixed and the other half have chronic problems with their system.

Unfortunately, the chronic problems are often self-inflicted wounds and could have easily been prevented, if they only knew what I’m about to share with you now.

Austinites are proud of the contributions we've made as a city to live more sustainably. We recycle, compost, grow our own food, raise chickens and goats, and we're starting to see more electric cars and hybrids on our roads than any other city in Texas. In fact, to help reach that goal Austin made a commitment back in 2007 to be completely carbon neutral by 2020, partly by having 330 vehicles in our city's fleet be plug-in electric automobiles. While that date is certain to be slipped at our current rate of growth and available programs, we are doing our best collectively to help move Austin in the right direction.

How many electric cars will we have?

According to Jessi Devenyns of the Austin Monitor, "ERCOT is predicting that by 2031, 20
