Helping Your Cat or Dog Prepare for a Move

The process of moving to a new home can be incredibly stressful for all involved. Your pets may not seem affected by all of your packing and preparation work but they can become easily stressed once they are thrust into a brand new environment. There are several things you should do before you move to prepare your cat or dog for the trip to your new home.

 Moving with Cats

Cats are typically more difficult to move into a new home than any other animal. Cats tend to become very attached to their homes and surroundings and dislike change. Moving your cat without any thought to his feelings can cause drastic changes in behavior, including defecating outside of the litter box and aggressive tendencies.

(BASTROP) One of Bastrop’s desired subdivisions, The Colony on Hwy. 71 W has expanded along CR 969 offering a mid-priced product featuring Lennar builders.

Lennar is developing two areas in this phase—Angelina Park and Morgan Bend---located closely behind Burleson Crossing with convenient shopping and eateries.  Unlike the original Colony boasting large lots and sprawling homes, Lennar’s development creates a more neighborhood feel with small lots and homes joined by sidewalk-lined streets.

“We are fulfilling the need for an affordable, quality new home in Bastrop County with easy distance to Austin and with a country/hometown feel,” Sherry Marroquin, Lennar New Home Consultant, said.

When you’re looking to add value to your home, some projects will give you a better return than others. We’ve put together six tips to help you choose the best ways to get the most value.

Replace your front and garage doors

This may seem like a boring way to spend your money, but replacing these doors will instantly update your home’s exterior. Replacing your garage door is a good investment for several reasons. First, you’ll get back more than97 percent of the cost on average when you sell. Second, an insulated garage door can help save you money on heating and cooling costs by regulating the temperature of your garage.

If you replace your wood front door with a steel one, you’ll recoup about 94

A new study, Atlas-14, has been conducted in Austin by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The study was finalized last fall and increased the number of structures and areas that are/will be affected by flooding. This also means that if you want to build in the newly identified flood zone areas it could be more costly. All new properties in the updated flood zones will have to be raised 2 feet and no new multi-dwelling units can be built. A large factor to the flood zone increase is the amount of impervious coverage experienced over the past 20 years plus. In 1997 impervious coverage was at 18.5% compared to 26.8% in 2015. You can imagine that this percentage has most likely increased by 2019. The water has to go somewhere and the heavy

What is Home Staging?

Home Staging is professionally preparing homes for sale so that they appeal to the most amount of buyers and generate the highest price in the least amount of time on market.

Home Staging is detailing, de-cluttering, depersonalizing and preparing a seller's home to give it a "model home" appearance so that the potential buyer can "see" themselves living in the home.

There are 2 types of home staging. Consultations, or occupied staging, is when the sellers are living in the house while it’s on the market. A stager will come to your house and walk around the interior and exterior with the sellers or their agent, to provide feedback on the areas that need improvement. This might involve painting, decluttering and rearranging or

For many years, the VA loan of the past had a reputation for being less desirable in the real estate marketplace, especially in consistently hot markets like we have here in Central Texas. I spoke with Chad Bowman of Veterans United Home Loans in Austin & Killeen to find out how this product has changed and how it has become a strong selling point for your Veteran property buyers.

Chad, a Veteran himself, spent the last several years teaching Veterans, REALTORS®, and the general public about how to successfully navigate the easier-than-ever VA loan. Below is our conversation:

1.  How has the VA loan experience changed over the last decade for the borrower? The Seller?

Since I started as a VA Loan Specialist 14 years ago, the VA loan has only
